It's a double feature! Excerpted from Pink Martini's live 2021 concert at Edgefield in Portland, "And Then You're Gone" and "But Now I'm Back" are two popular original songs for Pink Martini, first heard on the band's fourth studio album, "Splendor in the Grass." Co-written by Thomas Lauderdale and "Splendor in the Grass" producer Alex Marashian, with China Forbes and Derek Rieth, both songs were inspired by the first movement of Franz Schubert's lovely Fantasie in F minor for Four Hands D940. Thomas and pianist Hunter Noack, creator of the acclaimed "In a Landscape: Classical Music in the Wild" piano series, treat the audience with an extended opening duet of the Schubert work, at this concert, to open the song.
