Description
Our rendition of the traditional Swedish-Norwegian wedding march "Bruremarsj frå Jämtland". From the fall concert «Til Nord» («To the North») at Kulturkirken Jakob in Oslo, November 3rd 2024.
"Bruremarsj frå Jämtland" is a traditional wedding march from the Jämtland region of Sweden. This music is part of the rich folk music heritage of Scandinavia. Jämtland was initially part of the Norwegian kingdom but was conquered by Swedish troops during the Nordic Seven Years' War (1563-1570). After a period under Norwegian control again, Jämtland was ceded to Sweden in the Treaty of Brömsebro in 1645, marked by an extensive process of Swedish assimilation.
