Sedaka's lyricist, Howard Greenfield claimed he got the idea for this song and its title from reading an old TV guide. As Neil sings you through the months of the year, you realise that some of the annual events he refers to are strictly American. Some (like the junior prom) have been imported to Britain in more recent times. But it still captured the imagination of a whole teenage generation of British kids who ran out and bought the single, putting it in the UK Top 10 back in 1961.
