In Native Taino culture, Ata Bey is the Cosmic Matriarch from whom all life proceeds. She is at the same time Mother Earth, and Mother Nature in its nurturing manifestation.

Yokahu is the masculine spirit of fertility in Taíno mythology. Yúcahu, which means spirit of cassava, was the God of cassava and the sea. Cassava was the Taínos main crop and part of daily consumption.

Together, Atabey and Yúcahu represent the balance of nature — mother and son, creation and sustenance, water and land.

I included this chant in this video to honor and share the divine feminine and masculine energies in my ancestral lineage. Taino people have always had special reverence for the Earth and respect for all living things — knowing that all living things are connected, and to be honored and respected as such
