After finding out about Fadoul for the first few years we assumed that his recording career ended in the late 1970s. Eventually his friend and occasional background singer Tony Day told us about a "hip hop tape" he recorded at some point in the 1980s and eventually we managed to find a copy a few years ago. It's very different to everything else Fadoul had recorded up to this point. At the same time the tape proves that he remained open to new sounds and artistic experiments. Probably done completly alone he took instrumentals from Tom Tom Club to Jamaican dub and created his own versions. His take "Wordy Rappinghood" is a personal favorite and might be one of the first Moroccan rap tracks. Full track is up on youtube...
