Description

No two words evoke musical romance more than “Morricone” and “Bergman”. This track from Tierney Sutton’s upcoming release Paris Sessions 2 marries two of Ennio Morricone’s best-loved themes. The first, from Cinema Paradiso has been widely recorded. The second, “Deborah’s Theme” from 1984’s Once Upon A Time In America, is also widely beloved, yet the song based on the theme, created at the request of Quincy Jones, has been inexplicably overlooked. That song, “I Knew I Loved You”, with stunning lyrics by the first couple of American Love Songs, Alan and Marilyn Bergman, is here, performed by Tierney and her husband, Parisian guitarist, Serge Merlaud with the added magic of NEA Jazz Master Hubert Laws’ haunting alto flute.
