Description
Khaled was born in Oran on the 29th of February 1960. He is an Algerian musician, singer, and songwriter. He began recording in his early teens under the name ‘Cheb Khaled’.
While performing in the first Raï festival in Oran, he was crowned as ‘the king of Raï’ and has since become the world’s best-known Arab singer ever.
At the age of 14, he found the ‘Cinq étoiles’ band and started performing in nightclubs and at weddings. In the 1980s, Khaled started producing and singing songs in the Raï genre.
In 1992, Khaled became famous with the single ‘Didi’, which was a major hit in Europe, the Arab world, and in South and East Asia which made him an international superstar.
During his musical career, Khaled won 33 awards and sold more than 45 million albums worldwide.
