Lick of The Day no.13 | Lars Jansson’s lick (Start with 4th)

This lick was played by the great Lars Jansson over the tune called “Beautiful Love” from the album “Where we belong”

The lick start with fourth note of the scale degree, the line look similar with the melody of the song called “Honeysuckle Rose” (Lars change some note). The second bar, on the third beat he use the line from Altered or Diminished half-whole scale targeting to the #11 note of FM7 chord, then he use an enclosure technique to resolve to the fifth and use it again in the third beat to resolve to the root of the next chord (A7alt). In A7 chord, Lars use chromatic approach in the first and second beat resolve to the b13 note of A7 chord, then he play the line from A Altered scale to resolve to the fifth of the Dm7 chord.

Lick เริ่มที่ตัว 4 ของสเกล(d dorian) ไลน์ที่เขาเล่นในห้องแรกมีความคล้ายกับเมโลดี้เพลง Honeysuckle rose มากทีเดียว แต่เขาได้มีการสลับระหว่างโน้ตทำให้ไลน์ต่างจากเมโลดี้เล็กน้อย ห้องถัดมาในจังหวะที่ 3 เค้าได้เล่นไลน์ที่สร้างจากสเกล Altered หรือ Diminished Hw (เป็นไปได้ทั้ง 2 สเกล) ไปลงที่ตัว #11 ของคอร์ด FM7 ต่อมาเขาได้ใช้เทคนิคที่เรียกว่า enclosure ไปลงที่ตัว 5 ในจังหวะที่ 3 และอีกครั้ง ไปลงที่ตัวรูทในห้องถัดไป ในห้องสุดท้าย เขาเริ่มด้วยการเล่นโครมาติกเพื่อไปลงตัว b13 ของคอร์ด A7 ต่อมาเค้าเล่นไลน์ Altered ขาลง เพื่อไปเข้าตัว 5 ของคอร์ด Dm7
