Description
LYRICS: "Do You Hear What I Hear?"
Said the night wind to the little lamb
Do you see what I see? (Do you see what I see?
Way up in the sky, little lamb)
Do you see what I see (do you see what I see?)
A star, a star, dancing in the night
With a tail as big as a kite
With a tail as big as a kite!
Said the little lamb to the shepherd boy
Do you hear what I hear? (Do you hear what I hear?)
Ringing through the sky, shepherd boy,
Do you hear what I hear? (Do you hear what I hear?)
A song, a song, high above the tree
With a voice as big as the sea
With a voice as big as the sea!
Said the shepherd boy to the mighty king
Do you know what I know? (Do you know what I know?)
In your palace warm, mighty king
Do you know what I know? (Do you know what I know?)
A Child, a Child shivers in the cold
Let us bring Him silver and gold
Let us bring Him silver and gold!
Said the king to the people everywhere (said the king to the people everywhere!)
Listen to what I say (listen to what I say!)
Pray for peace, people everywhere (pray for peace, people everywhere!)
Listen to what I say (listen to what I say!)
The Child, the Child, sleeping in the night
He will bring us goodness and light
He will bring us goodness and light!
Do you hear what I hear? (Do you hear what I hear?)
Do you hear what I hear? (Do you hear what I hear?)
Do you hear what I hear? (Do you hear what I hear?)
* "Do You Hear What I Hear?" is a song written in October 1962, with lyrics by Noël Regney and music by Gloria Shayne. "Do You Hear What I Hear?" tells a story loosely based upon the story of the Nativity of Jesus as told in the Gospel of Matthew, incorporating fragments of the annunciation to the shepherds from the Gospel of Luke, though Jesus is never mentioned by name or explicitly identified. A "night wind" tells a lamb of a star, following which the lamb tells his young shepherd that he also hears a loud song. They are each led to a "mighty king," whom they tell of a child in the cold and ask to bring the child silver and gold (much as the Biblical Magi, which in tradition with prophecies in the Book of Isaiah and Psalm 72 are often characterized as kings, did with their gifts of gold, frankincense, and myrrh). The king proclaims a prayer of peace and announces that the child will "bring goodness and light" *
Memories of an "Italian-American Christmas"; From the aroma of the food to the glow of the fire lights and good music "Canzone Natalizia or Canzone Di Natale" there's nothing like an Italian-American Christmas. More than 3 million Italians immigrated to the United States in the early years of the 20th century, establishing the largest immigrant community of the period. Where a group of Italian-American vocalists achieved great success as recording artists and performers, here we'll salute the Italian-American crooners, such as Frank Sinatra, Louis Prima, Vic Damone, Jerry Vale, Tony Bennett, Dean Martin, Perry Como, Lou Monte, Al Martino, Julius La Rosa, Jimmy Roselli, Frankie Laine, Don Cornell, Connie Francis and many, many more, hearing their Christmas songs that played in our homes. Undeniably, religion remains the central part of the Christmas season, and so we share the season with family, Loved ones, plenty of good food and music.
A very famous Italian proverb says: “Natale con i tuoi, Pasqua con chi vuoi,” meaning that is mandatory to spend Christmas with your family and loved ones, but you can choose friends or whoever you want for Easter.
Buon Natale! Merry Christmas
