Description
"QUEEN OF THE SEA"
Wednesday, July 19th 2023 was one of the transatlantic crossing on the Queen Mary 2 highlights for me, because I got to see our group* dance to my new choreography for "Queen Of The Sea" - a song written for the original Queen Mary when she sailed in 1936. We got to dance it to The Alex Mendham Orchestra for all the passengers of the Queen Mary 2. The passengers loved it, and so did we!!!!
My goal with the dance was sort of a "Lambeth Walk" circle dance that everyone could learn and do together. One of our group noted that, in addition to how much fun it was, it had especially for the feel of the dance's look of the painting over the Observation Bar in the original ship.
Special thanks to my "lovely assistants" - Sara, Russell, and Mike!
AND truly special thanks to Alex Mendham for bringing the tune to life again!
*"Our group" consisted of approx. 80 dancers and musicians who love the styles/music/attire of the 1920s-1940s. We had especially arranged to do the Crossing with The Alex Mendham Orchestra together.
