Description
This brief clip shows the opening to the "Lone Ranger" TV show as it appeared when the show aired in color. The clip is shot entirely on the Iverson Movie Ranch in Chatsworth, Calif.
This is a much shorter version of the opening than is usually seen. It's one of many edits and other variations of the show's opening, but like virtually all of them, it features Lone Ranger Rock, where Clayton Moore, as the Lone Ranger, rears up on his horse Silver soon after the cry of "Hi-Yo Silver!" is heard.
Lone Ranger Rock can still be visited today, on the former site of the Iverson Ranch. In the clip, the rock first appears at about the 25-second mark.
This version of the opening does not include the Lone Ranger's ride down into the Iverson Gorge after he leaves Lone Ranger Rock.
The soundtrack features the well-known "William Tell Overture" by Rossini, which has been widely associated with the Lone Ranger since the TV show first aired in 1949.
Other versions of the opening also exist, both in color and in black-and-white, with different edits, alternate footage, sponsor inserts and a variety of title inserts. Most versions are shot primarily or entirely on the Iverson Movie Ranch.
